SMA Exploration Field Safety Workshop

Description

The SMA Exploration Health & Safety Sub-committee would like to invite all industry professionals and students working in the exploration industry of Saskatchewan to a day of informal talks and open discussion about working safely in field mineral exploration.

Most workplace accidents are the result of individuals engaging in risky behaviours and making unsafe choices.  This year's workshop will be filled with stories of past incidents that occurred while working in the field, and the actions which led to them.   We invite those in attendance to bring their own story to share during open-floor sessions.

Health and Safety representatives from various exploration companies and government departments will be present to provide informal talks on how to create safe work environments.  The workshop will bring together new and veteran workers in the mineral exploration industry who would like to learn more about the diversity of risks we face every day, ways in which we may introduce safety into our lives, and how to improve performance in our workplace.  

 This workshop is intended for all who are conducting exploration field activities.  It is strongly recommended for students seeking employment in the exploration industry, especially for this coming summer field season.  The workshop will be valuable for all junior, project and senior geologists and management currently working in the exploration industry and we encourage them to share their own stories, and learn how they may make their own workplace a safe workplace.

Cost:  $20.00 (includes coffee/snacks and lunch)

Payment:  Saskatchewan Mining Association members have the option of being invoiced.  All other participants must pay by cheque (payable to the Saskatchewan Mining Association) or cash on or by May 3, 2010.
